Why Become a VolunTourism Steward?
Years ago, I was asked: “Why don’t you create a VolunTourism membership organization?” I blundered through making a couple of attempts, but I knew that my heart wasn’t in it. I didn’t want to be the director of a membership organization.
What I really desired was to be part of a community of persons from around the world who saw the potential of VolunTourism. In my mind, these individuals would have a sincere interest in being stewards of an ever-evolving vision of the combination of voluntary service and travel & tourism. They would be aware of how this could catalyze a greater understanding throughout the world of the wealth of assets existing in each human being, regardless of stature.
Finally, at long last, I sense that as a world population our conscious awareness has risen to a point where a community of stewards can step forward and take on this vast responsibility. It cannot be undertaken by one or a handful of people; it must be something that each person who has a sincere interest in it feels as though s/he can be part of it and can contribute to it in her/his own unique way. This ever-growing community will come to realize one irrefutable truth in reference to VolunTourism: Stewardship Is A Privilege!
